Board of Directors

The Glendale Firefighters Cancer and Mental Health Foundation is guided by a dedicated board committed to serving retired Glendale firefighters.

Our Board

Fire Service Experience. Leadership. A Commitment That Continues Beyond the Job.

Our Foundation is led by active and retired Glendale firefighters who bring decades of experience in fire service leadership, labor advocacy, cancer prevention, mental health, retirement issues, nonprofit service, and financial stewardship. Each shares one commitment: taking care of firefighters and their families during their careers and long after the final shift.

Arick O'Hara

President

Arick O'Hara has more than 20 years of fire service experience and currently serves as a Captain with the Glendale Fire Department. He has served for more than six years as President of the Glendale Chapter and as a Vice President of United Phoenix Firefighters Local 493. Arick currently serves as Political Director for the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona, following more than a decade of political and legislative advocacy with Local 493, including seven years as a Political Coordinator and six years as Westside Political Director. His experience in the fire service, labor leadership, and advocacy for Arizona firefighters brings a strong understanding of the challenges firefighters and their families face throughout a career and into retirement. That perspective helps guide the Foundation's commitment to supporting firefighters impacted by occupational cancer and mental health challenges and ensuring they and their families have the resources, advocacy, and support they deserve.

Following retirement, Mark continued his commitment to helping others through his work as a Transformational Guide and Coach with inLighten Wellness. Drawing from both his fire service experience and his own lived understanding of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and trauma, Mark supports individuals navigating healing and recovery, including those participating in ketamine assisted therapy. His experience brings an important perspective to the Foundation's mental health mission and its commitment to ensuring that support for firefighters continues long after their final shift.
